What changed: Amazon has announced its 2026 holiday peak fulfilment fees. FBA fulfilment costs rise by an average of about $0.32 per unit from 15 October 2026 through 14 January 2027, on top of the 3.5% fuel and logistics surcharge that has applied since April and stays “until further notice.” It hits Fulfilment by Amazon, Remote Fulfilment with FBA, Multi-Channel Fulfilment and Buy with Prime.
What changed, specifically
- When: the peak surcharge runs 15 Oct 2026 to 14 Jan 2027 — the same window shape as last year.
- How much: an average of roughly $0.32 per unit, matching last year’s peak. It is an average only — the real change varies by size tier and weight, so it is not safe to apply one number across a mixed catalogue.
- On top of it: the 3.5% fuel and logistics surcharge introduced in April still applies, so the two stack during Q4.
- Who: FBA, Remote Fulfilment with FBA, Multi-Channel Fulfilment and Buy with Prime.
What it means for a private-label seller
Two things move. First, your Q4 margin per unit compresses — every FBA order in the window costs more to fulfil, and the surcharge stacks on top, so a product that is thin now can tip to a loss during the season it should earn the most. Second, and less obvious: because fulfilment cost rises, your break-even ACOS for Q4 drops — the ACOS at which an ad-driven sale stops making money is lower once fees go up, so a campaign that is fine in September can quietly run at a loss in November against the same target.
What to do about it
- Re-run your break-even per ASIN with the holiday fee in. Do not carry September’s numbers into Q4. Our break-even ACOS calculator gives you the figure per product in a few seconds — raise the fee input to reflect the peak surcharge.
- Get inventory in early. Amazon is explicitly warning about capacity constraints and Prime-speed eligibility during the rush — the earlier your stock is in the network, the safer your Q4 delivery promise. Confirm your own inbound deadlines in Seller Central, as they depend on your shipment plan and facility type.
- Re-check your thinnest products. The ones with the least margin are the ones the surcharge can push underwater. It may be right to hold ad spend on those during peak rather than pay to lose money.
